And Beaver-Butler Presbytery has submitted an overture that would “cease (General Assembly) funding of any group that supports or advocates either for or against abortion,” leaving Presbyterians to make those decisions locally.

The above is from the PCUSSA news service from May 2006. That overture was rejected. PCUSA has drawn a line in sand in regards to how it would like to spend money. I agree with Presbyman that it is better that people stay and fight for what they believe in. It would seem also that many other than Clifton Kirkpatrick have reached their tipping point, and realize you can't empty an ocean with a bucket.

I hope that the projected additional losses are coming from sessions having the fortitude to withold per capita, instead of members simply streaming out the doors. Witholding per capita shows engagement with the direction of the denomination, and a desire to effect change. Leaving is an act of resignation.
